The vastly diversified landscape of Texas means there are camping locations to suit everyone’s tastes. Scenic coastal beaches, desert, forests and mountains all await campers from near and far. You are bound to find a favorite location regardless of whether you enjoy rustic stays or upscale RV sites.
The popular camping destination stands off the coast of Corpus Christi. The park has 48 RV sites and 75 rustic sites. The rustic sites in particular lie along the 1.5-mile span of sandy beachfront. Open campfires are permitted only on the beach. Visitors to the park enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation activities, which include swimming, fishing, hiking and kayaking. RV camping costs a mere $20 and rustic sites are $10.
The location is a favorite among equestrians, as Limpia Canyon has primitive sites especially for horse and owners. The park, in general, has RV and rustic sites that feature hookups, cable TV, picnic tables and fire rings along with restrooms and potable water. The spectacular landscape welcomes hiking and horseback riding along its many trails.
Head west of San Antonio for 90 miles to find the campgrounds along the river in Camp Wood. The RV sites are concrete pull-thru that feature 20/30/50 amp hookups. Rustic sites are also available in addition to fully-equipped, air-conditioned cabins. The facility has a camp store, swimming pool and playgrounds in addition to basketball and volleyball courts. Popular past times here include fishing, kayaking, snorkeling and tubing on the river.
The natural rugged beauty of the canyons makes the park a popular destination in the Panhandle. Approximately 90 miles of trails enable guests to view bison and other wildlife that make the location home. The abundance of trails attract hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. On Lake Theo, visitors enjoy kayaking, fishing and swimming. RV and rustic sites are available along with amenities.
