Take a break from your everyday outdoor activities to enjoy all that the cold weather has to bring in the great area of San Antonio, Texas. For those that love sports and the great outdoors all year round, take a break and enjoy some downtime with these great activities to do with your family and friends.

Ford Holiday River Parade

A tradition standing for now 35 years in San Antonio, the Annual Holiday River Parade will take place this year on November 24th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Downtown San Antonio by the River walk.

This year, 26 floats are participating that will float down the river. Each float will be illuminating with stunning lights for the holidays. The floats even include celebrities, music and bands, and more for a wonderful holiday event to kick of Christmas spirit in San Antonio.

The Luminarias Festival

Back down at the River walk, San Antonio displays the Ford Fiesta De La Luminarias, or in other words, the Luminarias Festival. This Mexican Christmas tradition is a lantern style display of candles that will light the night during the weekends between December 1rst and the 17th. Using LED lights, these luminarias are able to withstand rain and wind for a safer display. With over 2,000 bags of candles, the glowing path is something all enjoy on their walks.

A Wonderland Christmas

For those with a more adventurous spirit and child that love a good amusement park, turn to Morgan’s Wonderland for their “A Wonderland Christmas” where you can enjoy Christmas lights while you ride the rides. There will also be a petting zoo and a simulated ice rink for skating. Get cookies and hot chocolate in between rides. Morgan’s Wonderland is fun for all ages with plenty to see and do during the holidays.

Holiday Boat Caroling

With four or five boats along the River walk in downtown San Antonio, enjoy a walk through the city with Christmas carols ringing in your ears. Between 185 school choirs, church choirs, companies, and other choirs participating, you’ll have a wide variety of Christmas songs to top off the Christmas season in San Antonio.
